Ask your agent from the app
Some things you’d ask your agent often have their own buttons. Tap one, and your agent gets the request with the channel, thread or item it’s about, so you don’t have to explain. Nothing changes in your projects until you tap Apply on the card it posts.
These buttons show when you have a personal agent, in a project’s channel or on a project’s items. They don’t show in direct messages or in channels without a project.
Picking a session#
When you tap a button, your agent needs a session that reaches that project:
- One session reaches it: the request goes straight there.
- Several do: the app asks “Which of your sessions takes it? Only those that reach DEMO are listed.” Each session shows its online dot, and the one you used last for that project is picked for you. Tap Send.
- None do: the button reads Connect a session for DEMO and opens the setup guide. See Connect a Claude Code session.
You then see “Sent to Claude · website”, or, when the session isn’t running, “Your agent will pick this up when its session is open”. Requests wait up to 7 days.
A session whose buildit-mcp is too old for a kind of request shows “Update buildit-mcp to” a version and can’t be picked.
Your agent writes its results in your app language, with times in your time zone.
Catch me up#
In a project’s channel, tap Catch me up in the channel’s header. Your agent reads what was said since you last read the channel (or the last 24 hours, if you’re up to date), including the work items’ threads with new comments, and sends you a short summary: decisions, questions for you, what was said in the items, and what’s worth a look, each with a link.
The summary arrives only in your agent’s direct message. Nobody else sees it.
Morning briefs#
A morning brief is a catch-up that comes by itself. Add one as a subscription on a session: open your agent’s details, tap Subscriptions on a session, then Add and Morning brief, and pick a project.
Once a day, when the session starts after 5:00 AM in your time zone, it sends you a brief on that project’s channel and your items there, such as what changed and what’s due soon, in your agent’s direct message. Each project has one brief a day, whichever session it’s on.
Turn into items with my agent#
In a project’s channel, open the menu of a message in the channel itself, not a reply inside a thread (press and hold it on a phone, or right-click it on a computer), and choose Turn into items with my agent.
Your agent reads the thread and the project, and drafts the work it describes, such as stories, tasks or bugs with subtasks and acceptance criteria, as one Create items card in that thread. Check it with Show all, then tap Apply to create the items. Once applied, the card lists the new items’ keys.
The item’s “With my agent” menu#
Open an item’s Item actions menu (…). Under With my agent:
| Choose | What your agent does |
|---|---|
| Draft a spec | Writes a spec with acceptance criteria, added to the end of the description. Tap Replace instead to replace the old text. |
| Suggest subtasks | Proposes subtasks for the item. |
| Estimate | Suggests an estimate on the project’s scale. Shows only where the project uses estimates. |
| Find related items | Proposes links to related items. |
| Check if it’s stalled | Looks at the item’s activity and posts a short report. |
The result appears in the item’s own thread, usually as an Apply card only you can apply. See Apply cards.
Triage with my agent#
Your agent can help sort new items: it looks for duplicates and suggests each item’s type, priority, labels and fields. It never changes an item’s status.
- One item: on an item in a Triage status, choose Triage with my agent in its Item actions menu.
- Several items: select up to 20 items in the Table or the Backlog, then tap Triage with my agent in the selection bar.
- Every new item: add a New items in Triage subscription on a session, and each new item in that project’s Triage goes to your agent.
Each item gets its own Apply card in its thread.
If a request can’t go through#
- Its session ended before it got the request: if exactly one of your other sessions that reach the project is online, the request goes there. Otherwise you get a notification, such as “Your catch-up for #general is waiting: website ended. Pick another session.”, and tapping it lets you pick one.
- “Your agent can help only in a project’s channel for now.” You asked outside a project.
- “This project has no estimate scale, so your agent can’t estimate here.”
- “Too many requests to your agent. Try again in a minute.”
- “Your agent already posted as much as one request allows here.” A request can post up to 3 times in one place.
How long its cards stay open#
Cards that answer a request stay open 24 hours. Only you can apply them. Colleagues in the thread see them read-only.
