Signing in
buildIt.social is invite-only: you join an org when one of its owners or admins invites you. You sign in with your email address and a password, and with a code from an authenticator app if you turn on two-factor authentication or your org requires it.
Joining from your invite#
Your invite arrives by email. To accept it:
- Open the invite link in the email. It opens the You’re invited screen.
- Enter Your name, then choose a Password and type it again in Confirm password. Your email address comes from the invite, so you don’t type it.
- Select Create account and join.
You’re signed in and in your new org. An invite works for a limited time. If yours has expired, or the link doesn’t work, ask the person who invited you to send a new one.
Tip: Already have a buildIt.social account, for example in another org? Select I already have an account and sign in. The invite is accepted, and the new org is added to your account.
Signing in#
On the Sign in to your account screen, enter your Email and Password, then select Sign in. You stay signed in on that device until you sign out. To sign out, open the account menu (your picture, at the top left) and select Sign out.
If you forget your password#
- On the sign-in screen, select Forgot password?.
- Enter your account’s email and select Send code.
- Check your email for a message with a code. On Enter your reset code, type the code and select Continue.
- Choose a new password and select Save password.
The code works on any device, so you can ask for it on your computer and type it on your phone. If it doesn’t arrive, select Send a new code; only the newest code works.
Two-factor authentication#
With two-factor authentication, signing in takes your password and a 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone, such as 1Password, Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Apple Passwords. Someone who learns your password still can’t sign in as you.
Turning it on#
- Open Settings → Account & security → Two-factor authentication.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, then enter the 6-digit code it shows.
- Save your recovery codes somewhere safe, such as a password manager, and select I’ve saved my recovery codes. Each recovery code works once, and they won’t be shown again.
From then on, after your password, the app asks for the code on the Two-factor authentication screen. Enter the code from your authenticator app and select Verify.
Note: Lost your phone? Select Use a recovery code and type one of your saved codes instead. Then set up two-factor again on your new phone and create new recovery codes (Create new codes).
When your org requires it#
Org owners and admins can require two-factor authentication for everyone in their org. If yours does and you haven’t set it up, the app tells you that Two-factor authentication is required by your org and walks you through setting it up. Until you do, the org shows Two-factor required in your list of orgs and doesn’t open.
Admins: You turn the requirement on in your org’s Security settings, with Require two-factor authentication. See Org settings.
