Calls and remote control
Settings → Calls & remote control prepares this device for calls. These settings apply on this device only, so set them on each computer and phone you call from.
Audio and video#
- Microphone, Camera and, on a computer and in browsers that can choose one, Speaker: the devices calls start with. System default follows your device’s choice.
- Test your devices: select Test to see your camera and a Microphone level bar. Except on phones, Play test sound checks your speaker. Your device may ask for permission first. It isn’t available during a call.
- Join with my microphone off and Join with my camera off: calls and meetings start with them off, and you turn them on in the call.
In a browser, the device names show once you allow the microphone and camera: select Show device names.
You can also switch devices during a call. See Calls and meetings.
Remote control#
On a computer that others can control during a call, Remote control shows:
- the hotkey that stops someone’s control at any time;
- on a Mac, Accessibility permission: whether this Mac can be controlled. macOS needs this permission before anyone can control your Mac, and you can turn it on here ahead of your first call.
How asking for and allowing control works is in Remote control.
