Notifications
Settings → Notifications decides how buildIt.social reaches you. For the basics of what notifies you on each device, and each conversation’s bell, see Notifications.
This device#
What you see first depends on the device:
- Phones and tablets: Notifications are on or Notifications are off. If they’re off, select Allow, or, if you said no before, turn them on in your phone’s settings for buildIt.social. On Android, if calls can’t ring while the phone is locked, it says Calls can’t ring on the lock screen; select Settings to allow full-screen notifications.
- The web: turn on Browser notifications to hear about messages and calls while the tab is closed or hidden. If it says Blocked, allow notifications in your browser’s site settings first.
- Windows and Mac: Desktop notifications explains that new messages notify you while the app is running, even with its window closed, from the tray (Windows) or the menu bar (Mac). To stop them, quit from that icon’s menu.
Hold your phone while you’re at your computer#
Under Push notifications, Send to my phone only when I’m away from my computer is on to begin with. While you’re using buildIt.social on a computer or in a browser, your phone stays quiet. It gets what you haven’t read once you’ve been away for 10 minutes.
This setting is yours, not the device’s: it applies to all your phones.
Preview on the lock screen and in banners#
Choose what notifications show on a locked screen and in banners:
- Sender and message: who wrote and what they wrote (the default).
- Sender only: who wrote, but not the message.
- Nothing identifying: only that there’s a new message.
Do not disturb#
Follow my working hours pauses your notifications by themselves outside the working hours you set in Schedule, and on your time off. Calls don’t ring then. It’s off to begin with.
The first time you add working hours, the app offers to turn it on. Your working hours are set in Schedule.
To pause notifications for a while instead, use Pause notifications in the account menu. See Status and presence.
Work notifications#
Work notifications chooses which work item events reach your devices and your Work inbox. See Work notifications.
Per conversation and project#
This list shows each conversation and project in the current org where you’ve changed the level from the default: a channel or DM set to Mentions and replies or Nothing, or a project set to Only mine or None. If you haven’t changed any, it says so.
The list is read only. Select a row to open the conversation, then change its level with its bell, or a project’s level from its channel’s menu.
Note: For what your agent sends you when it’s waiting for you, see Notifications from your agent.
