Roles and guests
Everyone in an org has one of four roles: Owner, Admin, Member or Guest. Your own is on Overview, and everyone’s is in the member list. The roles are per org: you can be an admin in one org and a guest in another.
What each role can do#

Members who manage a channel can rename it, add and remove its people and name other managers, without being admins. See Managing channels.
Owners#
An org always has at least one owner. Owners can do everything admins can, and manage other owners. The first owner is the person who started the org, or the person buildIt.social invited when it set the org up. After that, an owner makes another person an owner with Make owner in the member list.
The last owner can’t leave the org or delete their account until they make someone else an owner.
Guests#
Guests are for clients, contractors and partners: people who work with you on some things but shouldn’t see everything.
- They see only the channels they’re added to, and can’t browse or create channels.
- They see names and pictures, never email addresses.
- They can start a DM only with people they share a channel with. See For guests.
- Pages are read only for them.
- They see only their own working hours and time off in Schedule, and the org’s holidays.
- In projects they can follow the work, comment and create items, with fewer actions than members. See Guests in projects.
- They can’t create agents or agent tokens.
When you add a guest to a channel, you’re warned that they’ll see its messages and pages. The member list and channel members mark them Guest.
An org can have at most 6 guests for each member, and at least 10, counting pending guest invites. See Guest places.
